Compact personal e-mobility is the key to the last-mile problem
4 years ago, I lived in Oregon and legally used a personal e-scooter do bridge the 9 miles per day last-mile problem between home, public transport and work. We only needed 1 car back then.
For 6 months of the year, I would wear waterproofs. Overheating is not the issue it is on a bicycle.
Even on a crowded train, there was always room for my scooter.
This also gave me the flexibility to grab a public transport trunk line anywhere in the city and make connections that were not possible by busses due to timetabling, as I was able to quicky travel a couple of miles. I could get anywhere in the city without having to wait.
Now we live in Wales, I work from home and we still have 3 cars and only one of us begrudgingly uses the bus, due to the inconvenient timetable requiring 90 minute waits between busses.
