We want your opinion. Newport City Council and Transport for Wales want to improve the experience of travelling through Newport Railway Station, Old Green and the Riverfront. It’s currently quite difficult to move between these locations because of busy roads and complicated junctions. This proposal is all about making it easier for you to travel by bus, walking and cycling. Background to the proposals
The Burns Delivery Unit was set up by Welsh Government and Transport for Wales. It is delivering the recommendations of the South East Wales Transport Commission, also known as the Burns Recommendations. These aim to make it easier to travel by public transport, walking and cycling in the region. Helping people to travel by these types of transport will make Newport a greener and healthier place.
This proposal aims to make it easier to travel to Newport Railway Station, the City Centre and Riverfront through Old Green (see map above). The changes will make it easier for people to travel by bus, walking and cycling in the city.

The Station and Queensway
We are considering new facilities at The Station and Queensway to make it more convenient and quicker to change between rail and bus at the Railway Station. This includes opportunities for good-quality walking and cycling routes to the Railway Station and City Centre which are safe and attractive.
