Network North Wales
We’ve launched Network North Wales, a long-term investment vision to deliver an integrated, high frequency public transport network for North Wales, with Metro at its heart, connecting to Merseyside, Cheshire and the North of England beyond. Network North Wales will connect people to jobs, opportunity, community and a better quality of life.
The Vision
Through Network North Wales, we’ll build a network to maximise opportunity across our cross-border region. The vision is set to connect people and communities in North Wales and the surrounding regions with jobs, opportunities, leisure and a better quality of life.
This is an opportunity for communities and businesses to feedback on the vision and public transport in the region.
However, we must be clear; whilst there are some changes happening now, this is a bold vision for the long-term future of the region. We won’t be able to do everything people might want in the first phase.
The network that we’re talking about is one that takes us to 2035 and beyond. This is an opportunity to transform how people travel across the region, unlocking economic growth, improving access to jobs and services, and supporting a more sustainable future for our communities.
What changes will North Wales see?
- Investing in infrastructure so that there can be more frequent rail services
- New rail connections between North Wales and Liverpool
- New bus and coach routes
- Electrification of trains and buses - reducing carbon emissions
- New and improved railway stations on the network
- Easier-to-use ticketing system
- Introduction of pay as you go - making train travel smoother
We want to hear from those who live, work and travel to the North Wales region on what matters most to them to help deepen this vision.
What we’ll do with the feedback –
The data gathered from this engagement will be analysed, evaluated, summarised and published in report form. This report will be owned by the Network North Wales Programme Team, who will use the insight to;
- Give steer to the project teams delivering the immediate delivery priorities, to adapt or amend any projects ‘on the ground’ or soon to commence to make any relevant positive changes or improvements, wherever practically possible.
- Feed into the business case(s) of the immediate development priorities to demonstrate stakeholder and community requirements with aim to strengthen cases further
- Further refine the Network North Wales Vision
- Work with stakeholder partners to share relevant feedback for aligned priorities such as with our local authority partners working with TfW on future bus reform and the regional transport teams leading on the regional transport plans for the region, recently consulted upon.
